Sharon Woolfolk Obituary: Pensacola Woman Killed in Tragic Pedestrian Crash on Lillian Highway

The community of Pensacola is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Sharon Woolfolk, 51, who tragically died in a pedestrian crash early Sunday morning, March 22, 2026, in Escambia County.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the incident occurred around 2:45 a.m. along Lillian Highway near 50th Avenue. Woolfolk was reportedly walking east along the paved shoulder while pushing an e-bike when she was struck by a vehicle traveling in the same direction.

Authorities identified the driver as Summer Leigh Townsend, 20. Investigators say the driver veered out of her lane and onto the shoulder, colliding with Woolfolk. The impact caused her to be thrown onto the vehicle before landing on the roadway. Sadly, she succumbed to her injuries at the scene.

Officials further reported that the driver fled the scene but was later located by troopers. She now faces serious charges, including DUI manslaughter and leaving the scene of a crash involving death.
